Incest Forbidden Other Abominations Leviticus 18

Leviticus 18:29 "For whosoever shall commit any of these abominations, even the souls that commit them shall be cut off from among their people."

Outline:
v1 unlawful marriages
v19 unlawful lusts

Often it is said that some passages of the Bible are confusing. Chapter 18 of Leviticus leaves no room for confusion. It simply spells out what is not to be done.

First I would mention that a verse in this chapter may explain why judgment came upon the land of Canaan.

v25 "And the land is defiled: therefore I do visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land itself vomiteth out her inhahbitants."v27 "(For all these abominations have the men of the land done, which were before you, and the land is defiled.)"

Mention is made of the Molech, which if studied it would be found that they sacrificed their babies to him by tossing them into their sacrificial fires. History bears this out.

v3 "After the doings of the land of Egypt...and after the doings of the land of Canaan...shall ye not do..."

The Lord here warns Israel that the laws given to them in the wilderness would be those which govern them. They were not to take the laws or customs of Egypt with them nor adapt the traditions and laws of Canaan when they arrived there.

The first part of the chapter deals with lust toward family members and marriages within the family. It was not to be. We know now, from science, that it can have very sad results. Here in the wilderness the children of Israel had to accept it by faith that God knew what to tell them to do for their own well-being.

Parents, brothers and sisters were off limits. A great sin that is repeated in this nation and I suspect all others.

v22 "Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination."

One of America's great sins is clearly forbidden. Notice....

v25 "...the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitants."

One has only to try to clear spam from their email or search for something on the search engines to see the depths to which our nation has sunk. Clearly many have decided to disobey the Lord and His word. Payday is coming.

Why was it so important for Israel as well as ourselves to obey God's commands.

v2 "Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, I am the Lord your God."

It is such an honor to be chosen of the Lord. It is warmth to my soul to know that he sought me out and planted his word in my heart. Though, I often falter, like a father, he forgives and guides me to do better.

What happens when a person continually refuses to obey the Lord.

Romans 6:19 "I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness."

Proverbs 29:1 "He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.

God in love gives warning to those who break his commandments. There will be a last warning and we know not which warning will be the last. It is time now to quit sinning.

Speaking of sinning Christians, the Bible says:

I Corinthians 5:5 "To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus."

II Corinthians 6:17 "Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing: and I will receive you v18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty."

Psalm 89:7 "God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, and to be had in reverence of all them that are about him."
