Kaphar Leviticus 10 Footnote

v17 "Wherefore have ye not eaten the sin offering in the holy place, seeing it is most holy, and God hath given it you to bear the iniquity of the congregation, to make atonement for them before the Lord?"

I'm told in Scofield's notes that the Hebrew word is kaphar meaning covering.

It makes a difference in how it was in the old testament where sin was covered while in the new testament sin is taken away and nailed to his cross.

Colossians 2:14 "Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;"
